Cloud Operations Lead
We are seeking an experienced and visionary AWS Lead with deep AWS expertise and strong people-management capabilities. This is a hands-on leadership role that combines technical ownership with team leadership. You will be responsible for defining cloud operational strategy, driving execution excellence, and managing a multi-tier CloudOps team.
You will responsible for the end-to-end operational excellence of AWS environments—ensuring reliability, security, scalability, and cost efficiency. You will establish automated guardrails, enable 24/7 operations, and leverage AI-driven insights to proactively manage cloud infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
Lead, mentor, and grow a team of Cloud engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence, continuous learning, and collaboration.
Provide technical oversight and architectural guidance across all projects, ensuring solutions are robust, scalable, and secure.
Act as the primary technical point of contact for key client engagements, translating complex business requirements into actionable technical roadmaps.
Drive the strategic direction of the team’s technical capabilities
Integrate and optimize AWS services including:CloudWatch, CloudTrail, IAM, AWS Configuration, Lambda, and AI/ML services
Design and implement automated guardrails for:
Configuration drift detection
Security and compliance enforcement
Cost controls and anomaly detection
Ensure governance across multi-account AWS environments
Drive infrastructure observability, proactive alerting, and automated remediation
Enable event-driven and self-healing cloud operations
Define and own SLAs, SLOs, error budgets, and operational KPIs
Lead incident response, root cause analysis (RCA), and post-incident reviews
Align CloudOps practices with SRE and DevOps principles to reduce toil.Partner with DevOps, Security, Architecture, and Engineering teams on cloud strategy and governance
Lead continuous improvement initiatives using AIOps, analytics, and automation
Drive operational maturity, standardisation, and documentation
Lead, mentor, and scale CloudOps L1/L2/L3 teams supporting 24/7 cloud operations
Define operating models, run books, escalation paths, and on-call practicesAct as the primary decision-maker for operational trade-offs and risk mitigation
Requirements
Required Skills & Experience
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
7+ years of hands-on experience designing, operating, and optimising AWS cloud environments
Proven experience in a technical leadership or people-management role
Deep expertise in AWS services including:
EC2, S3, RDS, VPC, IAM, Lambda, API Gateway, ECS/EKS
Strong experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, CDK)
Solid understanding of AWS security, networking, identity, and access management
Hands-on experience with automation, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps practices
Ability to make sound technical decisions under ambiguity and competing priorities
Strong communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills
AWS Certifications (Solutions Architect – Professional, DevOps Engineer, or equivalent)
Experience with microservice, event-driven architectures, serverless, and containers
Experience working in start-up or fast-paced product environments
Contributions to the cloud community (blogs, talks, open-source, forums)
Willingness to support teams and customers across multiple time zones
